<h2>Philippians 2:12-30</h2>
<p>12 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling;</p>
<p>13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for <em>His</em> good pleasure.</p>
<p>14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing;</p>
<p>15 so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world,</p>
<p>16 holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain.</p>
<p>17 But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all.</p>
<p>18 You too, <em>I urge you</em>, rejoice in the same way and share your joy with me.</p>
<p>19 But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, so that I also may be encouraged when I learn of your condition.</p>
<p>20 For I have no one <em>else</em> of kindred spirit who will genuinely be concerned for your welfare.</p>
<p>21 For they all seek after their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus.</p>
<p>22 But you know of his proven worth, that he served with me in the furtherance of the gospel like a child <em>serving</em> his father.</p>
<p>23 Therefore I hope to send him immediately, as soon as I see how things <em>go</em> with me;</p>
<p>24 and I trust in the Lord that I myself also will be coming shortly.</p>
<p>25 But I thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger and minister to my need;</p>
<p>26 because he was longing for you all and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick.</p>
<p>27 For indeed he was sick to the point of death, but God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, so that I would not have sorrow upon sorrow.</p>
<p>28 Therefore I have sent him all the more eagerly so that when you see him again you may rejoice and I may be less concerned <em>about you</em>.</p>
<p>29 Receive him then in the Lord with all joy, and hold men like him in high regard;</p>
<p>30 because he came close to death for the work of Christ, risking his life to complete what was deficient in your service to me.<span id="_marker"> </span></p>

<h2>Philippians 1:27-2:11</h2>
<p>27 Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;</p>
<p>28 in no way alarmed by <em>your</em> opponents—which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that <em>too</em>, from God.</p>
<p>29 For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake,</p>
<p>30 experiencing the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear <em>to be</em> in me.</p>
<p><strong>Philippians 2</strong></p>
<p>1 Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion,</p>
<p>2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.</p>
<p>3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;</p>
<p>4 do not <em>merely</em> look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.</p>
<p>5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,</p>
<p>6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,</p>
<p>7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, <em>and</em> being made in the likeness of men.</p>
<p>8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.</p>
<p>9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,</p>
<p>10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,</p>
<p>11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.</p>

<h2>Philippians 1:12-26</h2>
<p>12 Now I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel,</p>
<p> 13 so that my imprisonment in <em>the cause of</em> Christ has become well known throughout the whole praetorian guard and to everyone else,</p>
<p>14 and that most of the brethren, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear.</p>
<p> 15 Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ even from envy and strife, but some also from good will;</p>
<p> 16 the latter <em>do it</em> out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel;</p>
<p>17 the former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause me distress in my imprisonment.</p>
<p> 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice.</p>
<p>Yes, and I will rejoice, 19 for I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,</p>
<p>20 according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will not be put to shame in anything, but <em>that</em> with all boldness, Christ will even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.</p>
<p>21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.</p>
<p>22 But if <em>I am</em> to live <em>on</em> in the flesh, this <em>will mean</em> fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose.</p>
<p>23 But I am hard-pressed from both <em>directions</em>, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for <em>that</em> is very much better;</p>
<p>24 yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake.</p>
<p>25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy in the faith,</p>
<p>26 so that your proud confidence in me may abound in Christ Jesus through my coming to you again.<span id="_marker"> </span></p>

<h2>Luke 16:19-31</h2>
<p>19 “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day.</p>
<p>20 But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate,</p>
<p>21 desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.</p>
<p>22 So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.</p>
<p>23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.</p>
<p>24 “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’</p>
<p>25 But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented.</p>
<p>26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’</p>
<p>27 “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house,</p>
<p>28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’</p>
<p>29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’</p>
<p>30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’</p>
<p>31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’”</p>

<h2>Philippians 1:1-11</h2>
<p> 1Paul and Timothy, bond-servants of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, including the overseers and deacons: 2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.</p>
<p>3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you,</p>

<p>7 For it is only right for me to feel this way about you all, because I have you in my heart, since both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of grace with me.</p>
<p>8 For God is my witness, how I long for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus.</p>
<p>9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment,</p>
<p>10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ;</p>
<p>11 having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which <em>comes</em> through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.calvarychapelsurprise.org/pdf/Joshua5.13_16.pdf" target="_blank"></a></p>
<h2>Joshua 6</h2>
<p>1 Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in.</p>
<p>2 And the LORD said to Joshua: “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, <em>and</em> the mighty men of valor.</p>
<p>3 You shall march around the city, all <em>you</em> men of war; you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days.</p>
<p>4 And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.</p>
<p>5 It shall come to pass, when they make a long <em>blast</em> with the ram’s horn, <em>and</em> when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him.”</p>
<p>6 Then Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the LORD.”</p>
<p>7 And he said to the people, “Proceed, and march around the city, and let him who is armed advance before the ark of the LORD.”</p>
<p>8 So it was, when Joshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the LORD advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.</p>
<p>9 The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard came after the ark, while <em>the priests</em> continued blowing the trumpets.</p>
<p>10 Now Joshua had commanded the people, saying, “You shall not shout or make any noise with your voice, nor shall a word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I say to you, ‘Shout!’ Then you shall shout.”</p>
<p> 11 So he had the ark of the LORD circle the city, going around <em>it</em> once. Then they came into the camp and lodged in the camp.</p>
<p>12 And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.</p>
<p>13 Then seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually and blew with the trumpets. And the armed men went before them. But the rear guard came after the ark of the LORD, while <em>the priests</em> continued blowing the trumpets.</p>
<p>14 And the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. So they did six days.</p>
<p> 15 But it came to pass on the seventh day that they rose early, about the dawning of the day, and marched around the city seven times in the same manner. On that day only they marched around the city seven times.</p>
<p>16 And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to the people: “Shout, for the LORD has given you the city!</p>
<p>17 Now the city shall be doomed by the LORD to destruction, it and all who <em>are</em> in it. Only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all who <em>are</em> with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.</p>
<p>18 And you, by all means abstain from the accursed things, lest you become accursed when you take of the accursed things, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.</p>
<p>19 But all the silver and gold, and vessels of bronze and iron, <em>are</em> consecrated to the LORD; they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.”</p>
<p>20 So the people shouted when <em>the priests</em> blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.</p>
<p>21 And they utterly destroyed all that <em>was</em> in the city, both man and woman, young and old, ox and sheep and donkey, with the edge of the sword.</p>
<p>22 But Joshua had said to the two men who had spied out the country, “Go into the harlot’s house, and from there bring out the woman and all that she has, as you swore to her.”</p>
<p>23 And the young men who had been spies went in and brought out Rahab, her father, her mother, her brothers, and all that she had. So they brought out all her relatives and left them outside the camp of Israel.</p>
<p>24 But they burned the city and all that <em>was</em> in it with fire. Only the silver and gold, and the vessels of bronze and iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD.</p>
<p> 25 And Joshua spared Rahab the harlot, her father’s household, and all that she had. So she dwells in Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.</p>
<p>26 Then Joshua charged <em>them</em> at that time, saying, “Cursed <em>be</em> the man before the LORD who rises up and builds this city Jericho; he shall lay its foundation with his firstborn, and with his youngest he shall set up its gates.”</p>
<p>27 So the LORD was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout all the country.<span id="_marker"> </span></p>

<h2>Joshua 5:1-12</h2>
<p> 1 So it was, when all the kings of the Amorites who <em>were</em> on the west side of the Jordan, and all the kings of the Canaanites who <em>were</em> by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel until we had crossed over, that their heart melted; and there was no spirit in them any longer because of the children of Israel.</p>
<p>2 At that time the LORD said to Joshua, “Make flint knives for yourself, and circumcise the sons of Israel again the second time.”</p>
<p> 3 So Joshua made flint knives for himself, and circumcised the sons of Israel at the hill of the foreskins.</p>
<p>4 And this <em>is</em> the reason why Joshua circumcised them: All the people who came out of Egypt <em>who were</em> males, all the men of war, had died in the wilderness on the way, after they had come out of Egypt.</p>
<p> 5 For all the people who came out had been circumcised, but all the people born in the wilderness, on the way as they came out of Egypt, had not been circumcised.</p>
<p>6 For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people <em>who were</em> men of war, who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they did not obey the voice of the LORD—to whom the LORD swore that He would not show them the land which the LORD had sworn to their fathers that He would give us, “a land flowing with milk and honey.”</p>
<p>7 Then Joshua circumcised their sons <em>whom</em> He raised up in their place; for they were uncircumcised, because they had not been circumcised on the way.</p>
<p>8 So it was, when they had finished circumcising all the people, that they stayed in their places in the camp till they were healed.</p>
<p>9 Then the LORD said to Joshua, “This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you.” Therefore the name of the place is called Gilgal to this day.</p>
<p>10 Now the children of Israel camped in Gilgal, and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight on the plains of Jericho.</p>
<p>11 And they ate of the produce of the land on the day after the Passover, unleavened bread and parched grain, on the very same day.</p>
<p>12 Then the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten the produce of the land; and the children of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate the food of the land of Canaan that year.<span id="_marker"> </span></p>
